How It Works Imagine a surface covered with an incredibly tiny and invisible "bed of nails."  Then, imagine that the germs (microorganisms) are tiny balloons. The tiny nails are electrically charged and attract the balloons as they float by the surface.  Once a balloon comes in contact with the nails, it pops and begins to lose air.  The electrically charged nails also shock (electrocute) the balloons, ensuring they are “dead” and can’t be re-inflated.  And, because these microscopic nails aren’t  damaged by 'popping' the balloons, they can do the same thing – attract, puncture and shock  - killing the next "balloon" that comes along.
